Overview

Michelle comes to Taylor Anderson after 11 years as a criminal prosecutor, where she handled complex felony cases. Michelle's work primarily focused on prosecuting offenders accused of sexual assault, intimate partner violence, or child abuse. Michelle specialized in developing creative case strategies that allowed her to negotiate the best outcomes for the various stakeholders involved in her cases. Michelle has completed more than 50 jury trials ranging from homicide to multi-victim sexual offenses involving children.

Michelle also has significant appellate experience. Prior to coming to Taylor Anderson, she was the appellate lead for the a district attorney's office of approximately 40 attorneys, where she oversaw the office's appellate filings, and assisted attorneys with pretrial motions practice, motions limine, and interlocutory appeals. She has worked to defend dozens of jury verdicts through post-conviction litigation and has argued several cases before the Nevada Supreme Court.

Experience

Appellate practice

  • Successfully handled a first-degree murder case through trial and defended the conviction during appellate briefing and oral argument before the Nevada Supreme Court.

Trial practice

  • Successfully litigated a cold case homicide, which resulted in the location and recovery of the victim's remains. Following extensive litigation, the defendant entered a guilty plea and provided a full confession.
  • Secured a guilty verdict on a child sexual abuse case involving three co-defendants and seven victims. Following a three-week trial, the primary offender was found guilty of charges related to each of the seven victims and sentenced to more than 300 years in prison.
