- Secured a complete defense verdict in a products liability case stemming from a fatal workplace incident at a refinery in Torrance, California. Plaintiffs sought $27 million in damages, alleging that a jackstand used to lift an internal floating roof in a petroleum storage tank was defectively designed and manufactured. The case demanded meticulous analysis of engineering protocols, industrial equipment design, and mechanical load forces. Leveraging a strategic defense built on rigorous product testing and persuasive expert testimony from an API-certified engineer, the defense demonstrated that the jackstand’s failure was caused by improper use involving an industrial airbag—not by any design or manufacturing defect—an argument that ultimately persuaded the jury to deliver a defense verdict in favor of Jazmine’s client.
- Secured favorable jury verdict for School District client in a six-week jury trial where a special needs student alleged he was sexually abused at school and on the school bus. At the conclusion, the jury returned a verdict effectively rendering the School District the prevailing party under CCP 998 (95% less than the plaintiffs requested in closing arguments). The verdict was further reduced as the defense was entitled to recover costs because the verdict was far less than the defense’s pre-trial 998 offer.
