On June 7, 2019, Taylor|Anderson, LLP lawyers Paul Buckley and Zachary Rutman obtained summary judgment on behalf of several clients, including the executive leadership and board members of a boys’ group home facility in Washington state.

Plaintiffs’ lawsuit alleged they were sexually abused while at the boys’ group home. The facility, its directors, officers and employees were all named in the lawsuit for allegedly failing to adequately supervise the boys – a contention that all defendants vigorously disputed.

Plaintiffs filed their lawsuit in 2015, about five years after the group home dissolved. A little-known, Washington statute bars an action against the corporation unless filed within three years of the date of dissolution.

On summary judgment, Taylor|Anderson attorneys successfully argued Plaintiffs’ claims were not only barred against the dissolved corporation, but they were similarly barred against the directors, officers and employees.
